How do I register?

Visit www.walkintheparks.org to register or mail an official registration form to the following address:

How much is it to register?

$15.00 for all individual walkers

$10.00 for team walkers

Children three (3) and under are FREE

Pediatric cancer patients and survivors are FREE

How many participants make up a team?

It is suggested that teams consist of a minimum of 10 participants. 

What does the registration fee cover?

The per person registration fee includes participation in the walk, a light breakfast snack, a 2010 “A Walk in the Park” t-shirt and gift bag.  Please note that your registration fee will not count towards your personal fundraising goal.

Does registration include park admission?

No, however if you raise just $50.00 you will receive a FREE ticket to stay all day at the park. Each walker is eligible for only one ticket regardless of how much is raised over $50.  Team walkers must individually raise $50 to be eligible for a park ticket.  Team fundraising totals will not be applied to other members of the team who have not met the minimum $50 donation total to receive a free ticket.  Tickets will be issued the day of the event at walker registration. Please note that tickets are only valid on the day of the walk.

What if I don't raise $50.00, can I still purchase a ticket to the park?

Walkers who do not raise $50.00 are still welcome to enjoy the park with a discounted admission ticket. Please visit http://www.sixflags.com/cure to purchase specially priced ticket packages online. Coupons for discounted tickets will also be made available on the day of the walk.  A portion of your paid ticket admission will be donated to Cure Kids Cancer.

I haven't registered yet. Can I still register on the day of the walk?

Yes. Late registration will be available on the day of the walk at a fee of $15 for all individual and team walkers.  Please visit the designated registration table when arriving at the park. However, it is encouraged that walkers sign up online to take full advantage of the easy online fundraising tools.  Please note that t-shirts and gift bags will be distributed based on availability.

If I cannot attend the event will my registration fee be refunded?

No.  All registration fees are non-refundable.  Registration fees for any individual that cannot attend the event will be donated to Cure Kids Cancer.

If I cannot attend the event, will my t-shirt and gift bag be mailed to me?

No. All registrants must attend the walk to receive their “A Walk in the Park” t-shirt and gift bag.  No items will be mailed.

Will child cancer patients/survivors receive special recognition at the walks?

Yes. If you or your child would like to be recognized as a pediatric cancer survivor/patient please register online as a “Survivor” or indicate on the official registration form.  All children who have battled or are battling cancer will receive a complimentary t-shirt and complimentary ticket to Six Flags. They will also be honored in a special closing ceremony. Additionally, please email info@walkintheparks.org  with any special requests.

Can I collect donation money in cash or checks or does it all need to be done online?

Yes. Bring all cash and checks collected to the walk registration table on the day of the walk.  Funds turned in on the day of the walk will be added to your online donation totals and count towards obtaining your free ticket to the park and other great prizes.

Where do the proceeds from the walk go?

All proceeds from the walk will benefit Cure Kids Cancer, an initiative of Children’s Miracle Network. 100% of your donation will go directly to your local Children’s Miracle Network hospital’s pediatric oncology program to help children with cancer in your community.  A list of hospitals associated with each “A Walk in the Park” event is below:

Will donors be issued a tax receipt?

All online donors will automatically be issued a tax receipt via email when the online donation is completed.  Pre-printed receipts are available here for all donors who would like record of their cash donation.  Simply print and fill in the donation amount before giving the donor their receipt. Individual receipts will not be available on the day of the walk for cash and check donations turned in during registration.

**Please note, for all donations under $250 no receipt is needed for tax purposes.  A copy of your check or credit card statement will prove the charitable deduction.**

What time does the Walk start?

Walk times will vary by park. Please visit your local park walk page at www.walkintheparks.org for information on individual event details.

How long is the walk?

The distance of the walk will vary by park, but on average the walk is approximately 1-1.5 miles.

What if it rains?

All walk events will occur rain or shine. Feel free to bring an umbrella or a poncho. However, Six Flags and Cure Kids Cancer reserve the right to cancel in extreme circumstances. If an event is cancelled, there will be no refunds. Instead, your registration fee will be donated to Cure Kids Cancer.

Do I have to pay for parking at the park?

No. Parking is available for all walkers at no charge.

Are strollers and wheelchairs allowed?

Yes. Strollers and wheelchairs will not be available for rental, but you may bring your own.

Can I bring my pet?

No. Sorry, animals will not be permitted at the walk.

Is smoking permitted?

All Six Flags locations are smoke-free environments.  However, designated smoking areas are located throughout each park. Please consult the park map when you arrive for the walk for exact locations.

My husband/wife/friend is walking but I am not. Where am I supposed to be and what am I supposed to do when he/she is walking?

Only registered walkers will be allowed to travel inside the park along the walk course.  However, each park will have a designated area where family and friends can wait.

Is the walk course difficult?

Walkers are encouraged to walk at their own pace. This is a non-competitive event and designed to be a leisurely walk in the park. The landscape at each park will vary and may incorporate small hills. People should only be walking and not running through the course.

Can we run the course?

No. The event is designed to be a leisurely 1-1.5 mile walk. There should be no running during the event. This is not a race, nor is it a timed event.

How do I sign up to volunteer?

Email info@walkintheparks.org and include your name, contact information and which event you would like to volunteer for. A walk coordinator will contact you with specific details pertaining to your local walk. Please note that the number of volunteers will vary by park.  Volunteers will be accepted on a per need basis.

What is Cure Kids Cancer?

Cure kids Cancer is a Children’s Miracle Network initiative designed to raise funds and awareness for 170 local pediatric cancer programs.  Children’s Miracle Network hospitals provide diagnosis, life-saving treatments, cutting edge research and pediatric education programs that help children with cancer and their families find hope for the future.
